Mario Cristobal has signed an extension with the Oregon Ducks

Mario Cristobal has been rumored to have interest from other teams but he will be staying in the Pacific Northwest with the Oregon Ducks.

The contract extension is longer than Cristobal’s original contract by two years. The extension will last until 2025 with an option for the year 2026. Therefore, it is a 6-year extension worth $27 million.

This is good news for the Ducks. Since Cristobals’ first year as the Head Coach, the Ducks have been in the top 15 recruiting classes in the Nation every year. Reaching as high as 7th in the Nation in 2019.

This years recruiting class is ranked higher than that.

On Wednesday, the Ducks signed the number six recruiting class in the nation. And Cristobal is ecstatic to be here for years to come.

The Ducks should have extended the contract after the Rose Bowl last year, and have been working on an extension for more than a year, but Covid hit and stalled that.

Even though they took a step back and lost to the Oregon State Beavers and California Golden Bears. This year, the Ducks although recently were titled as the Pac-12 North Champions.

This is his first year without arguably the best Quarterback to come from the University of Oregon, Justin Herbert. He’s getting a lot of praise.

However, you can’t overlook the fact that the Ducks have the youngest roster in FBS. But with experience, this Ducks team should be very good.

What’s next for Oregon Ducks Football?

Can Cristobal turn Shough or another young QB into the caliber of Herbert or better? What is the ceiling for this Ducks team? Will the Ducks make it to the National Championship in the next few years? Will they win a National Championship under Mario Cristobal?

All of these answers could be answered in the next six years.
